Dear Women in the Channel members,
As someone who resides in Washington, DC, who once worked with the Feds and on Capitol Hill, I have watched our new administration make their stance on policy and certain issues. I am writing you today as a fellow member of a great organization and as a call to action.
This message is personally addressed to each and every member of Women in the Channel, urging you and us as women to take action! It is our responsibility as members of the organization to pave the way for new members joining the organization, new colleagues joining the industry as a career, and those who have been in the industry and believe that there is still a big gap to fill.
- If you’ve been engaged with WiC committees, local activities or at conferences: I challenge you to communicate to your company how WiC has made a difference in your personal and professional growth, and encourage them to sponsor.
- If you are new to WiC: welcome! We hope that you take advantage of the networking, the mentoring, and the volunteer opportunities that we have to advance our mission as an organization. The benefits of volunteering on committees and engaging locally with other women far exceeds what we pay in membership dues. Your first mission, should you choose to accept it, is to engage your company in giving to an organization that will make a difference in your personal and professional growth in the channel and in this space.
- If you are a member of our WiC board of directors: as someone who has been in nonprofit management, I challenge you to help in doubling our sponsorship dollars for this fiscal year (2017). Your help in sponsorship is instrumental to our growth and development, and your valuable time commitment to growing this organization is much appreciated.
Finally, as co-chair of the sponsorship committee, a full-time channel manager, a partner, a daughter, a sister, a mother to two furry animals, an aunt, a mindful leadership trainer and a yoga instructor, I have committed my time to serve you on the sponsorship committee and to achieve a big goal in funds raised this year.
