It’s Story Time with ACW Reads

By Lauren Grenier

As we close out 2020, we realize we’ve learned quite a bit about adjusting to a virtual world. The ACW community has been a great comfort to many of us who miss life before the pandemic.

Last spring, we began looking for ways to help members manage all the changes. Among many initiatives, we started “ACW Reads,” a video project to share stories with school-aged children who are learning from home during the pandemic. Our goal is to inspire young people with stories read by ACW members and give their parents a well-deserved break from “teaching” to get back 20 minutes of uninterrupted work or personal time.

This fall, just in time for the new semester, we released the first edition of ACW Reads with members of the ACW Board of Directors reading inspiring stories from “Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls 2,” which features profiles of extraordinary women like Eleanor Roosevelt, Oprah Winfrey and Madonna.

We hope that this edition of ACW Reads provides parents with a moment to realign their focus while giving their children the opportunity to learn about influential women who can be role models.

Each chapter is linked, so you can watch it in increments that fit your schedule!
