How Sommer Figone is Living the ACW Pledge: Women Supporting Women

May 6, 2021

Alliance of Channel Women is highlighting women who are Living the ACW Pledge: Women Supporting Women. We’re seeking nominations from the channel community for women – from the mailroom to the boardroom – who embody the oath in their words and actions.

Sommer Figone, Marketing Manager at RapidScale, was nominated by Brittany Hodge, Senior Manager of Events and Sponsorships at RapidScale.

In what way(s) is your nominee an example of Living the ACW Pledge of women supporting women?
“The Mother” of RapidScale, Sommer was one of the very first female employees to join RapidScale as an intern during the small start-up stage. Since, she has been dedicated to the company, including through our tremendous growth following the acquisition with Cox Business. She has advanced to Marketing Manager and is still the “go-to” for most of our company, knowing all that she knows from being there from the beginning. She not only excels at her core job but is also more than willing to step in and help out where she can, always with an enthusiastic smile and spirit. On a personal level, Sommer genuinely cares about every person she comes into contact with. She wants to get to know them and is compassionate about their well-being. Also, a plus: she loves giving hugs, and who couldn’t always use a hug?

What is a specific example of what she did for you and when it happened?
My aunt was recently diagnosed with aggressive cancer, which I found out about in the middle of a busy workday. I was in complete panic mode while still trying to act normal and proceed with my calls and emails like nothing had happened. I finally messaged Sommer to tell her what was going on, partly to vent (because she’s a great listener and just makes you feel good and loved in general) and somewhat to express apologies for not being very “present” since we are partners on many projects together. She was more than understandable, asking questions and expressing her willingness to help out. A few days later, I received a package from her with a perfect box of chocolates from See’s Candies (the best)! It was such a sweet surprise.

Sommer is one of the kindest women I have ever met, and I have no doubt many others agree!

What impact did her action have on you and/or your career?
It made me even more appreciative of having the kindest, most genuine, and respectful team of people to work with.
