How Alexie Teferi is Living the ACW Pledge: Women Supporting Women

Jun 24, 2022

Alliance of Channel Women is highlighting women who are Living the ACW Pledge: Women Supporting Women. We’re seeking nominations from the channel community for women – from the mailroom to the boardroom – who embody the oath in their words and actions.

Alexie Teferi, Director of Channel Sales at Alliance Business Services, was nominated by Nicole Salcedo, Account Executive at Masergy Comcast.

In what way(s) is your nominee an example of Living the ACW Advocacy Pledge of women supporting women?

Alexie Teferi was my mentor for the better part of my first year in ACW, and she has been a mentor for ACW since 2020. She was in charge of developing the 1:1 mentoring program for ACW and incorporated the book, Unconscious Bias by Anne Chow and the workbook to discuss bias. ACW now adopts this book.

Alexie is a great role model and someone I very much look up to and aspire to embody as I continue to develop in my career. One example of how powerful she is would be that she traveled around the world as a first-generation immigrant child and financed her own education, and I feel lucky to call her my mentor.

What is a specific example of what she did for you and when it happened?

I joined ACW about a month after starting my new job in the Channel. Alexie took me under her wing and created a safe space to express myself and speak my mind. I dealt a lot with imposter syndrome in my first six months at my new job, and Alexie taught me how to find confidence in a world full of bias. She encouraged me to adapt the book Unconscious Bias and helped me through a few exercises, which brought me much relief and a renewed sense of ‘self.’

What impact did her action have on you and/or your career?

Spending time with Alexie allowed me to refocus my efforts on building my professional brand amidst my imposter syndrome. She incorporated practices and ideas that inspired me to become a better version of myself, and I can only hope to inspire someone else in the same way.
