2020 was the year of uncertainty. 2021 is the year of action, especially when it comes to Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) in the channel.
D&I matters. The tech industry holds the lowest number of women in entry and mid-level roles at just 19 percent and even less when you consider executive positions at 10 percent. The number is even grimmer for women of color at 2 percent in both entry and mid-level tech roles and shocking 0.1 percent in tech executive positions.
In our upcoming episode of “Keepin’ It’ Real,” we’re talking to D&I leaders from Alliance of Channel Women, Xposure Inclusion and Diversity, and the Allies of the Channel. Each of these organizations will talk about the plans that they have to push inclusivity forward and what you can do to drive the necessary change in our industry and your organization. Let us know your thoughts on the episode by commenting on the posts or emailing pr@allianceofchannelwomen.org.
We all have to do our part to make the channel an inclusive place for women and women of color. It’s going to take all of us in support of each other to shift the norm. I’m confident that we will get there, but we need to start now.
Not sure of the next steps? Consider joining ACW’s new Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee. We’d love to have you help us create initiatives and build programs that work.
