Community in Action: Inclusive Ways to Give Back and Build Belonging

Apr 22, 2025

Community is at the heart of the ACW, nurturing those around us, and supporting causes that matter. The goal is to deepen our collective sense of connection and responsibility to one another and to the broader industry community. By celebrating community, we encourage members to invest in and uplift each other—whether it’s through volunteerism, mutual support or local engagement—and create a space where everyone feels included, valued, and supported.

5 Inclusive Ways to Give Back This Spring

Giving back is even more powerful when it brings everyone in. As we celebrate the spirit of community, here are five quick, meaningful ways to uplift those around you—while promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEI&B) in the channel and beyond.

  1. Volunteer with Purpose
Support organizations that empower women, BIPOC, LGBTQ+, or neurodiverse individuals in tech. A few hours of mentorship or resume coaching can help open doors and build belonging.
  2. Champion Digital Equity
Donate devices or share tech expertise with schools or nonprofits helping underrepresented communities stay connected and competitive. Access is the first step toward equity.
  3. Support Local, Diverse-Owned Businesses
Host a team lunch, event, or initiative that boosts minority-owned businesses in your area—creating economic opportunity and reinforcing a sense of community belonging.
  4. Drive a Donation—with a Twist
Organize a clothing, hygiene kit, or food drive—then partner with groups that focus on historically underserved populations, ensuring your support reaches those most in need.
  5. Read, Reflect, Connect
Start an inclusive literature circle (virtual or in-person) to explore stories from different perspectives. Donate the cost of the book—or what you’d spend on snacks—to a cause aligned with DEI&B values.

Let’s create a culture of connection where every voice is heard and every person belongs. Do you have your own way to give back with inclusion in mind? Share it with us at dei@allianceofchannelwomen.org!
