ABOUT ELLEN O’BRIEN
ellen is an original – equal parts professional, practical, positive, insightful, inspirational and funny, a teacher and a student. She is clear-eyed, eagle-eyed, and starry-eyed.
Her business background includes mid-level management positions in large and mid-size corporations, including Verizon Communications and Health Management Systems in New York. Training, customer service, administration, process and efficiency optimization were among her most rewarding and successful assignments.
Her most favorite assignment was the years she spent as a bartender in her family’s neighborhood “gin mill” (as ellen refers to it) in the shadow of New York’s Belmont racetrack. ellen considers herself most fortunate to have received an education on both sides of a textbook! How many people can say they learned to read Plato’s Apology in the original classic Greek at the same time they learned to read a racing form!
Her straightforward, objective counsel offers practical inspiration and actionable motivation. When ellen speaks, the connection with her audience is immediate, and the impact of her words indelible. She won’t change your life – you’ll do that. Her “permission granting” messages help you to re/connect with your own aptitudes, confidence, motivation, courage, and to act in the direction of your dreams.
In the Spring of 2010, ellen launched CAREERfare, an informational program on her community’s government access cable network. ellen was recognized as the 2010 Host/Producer of the Year for her work. Her “Women.Wisdom.Work.” interview series is currently in production. She recently published her book about everyday women in business – how they can intentionally help themselves, and how they can unintentionally hurt themselves.
ellen keeps it real, whether behind a podium, a TV camera, a desk, or a bar. She is also a skilled résumé writer and business coach.
