The Women of the Channel Career Pursuits Workshop will cover the importance of internship, landing that first job and how to build a network of supportive professional women

SANTA ANA, Calif., May 15, 2017 – Women in the Channel (WiC), a not-for-profit organization dedicated to accelerating the growth of female channel leaders in technology, announced today that its Girls in Telecom & IT Initiative has partnered with The Channel Company and Sirius to provide programming for Career Pursuits Workshop for young women attending the “sold-out” Women of the Channel (WOTC) West Leadership Conference, May 16-17 at the Meritage Resort & Spa in Napa Valley, Calif.

Women of the Channel West has launched a special workshop, “The Future is Yours: Career Paths for Young Women,” to help women in college and STEM-focused high-school students identify opportunities in the booming tech industry. This pre-event workshop, held at 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., May 16, will cover a wide range of issues, including opportunities in the IT services and high-tech industries, the importance of internship, landing that first job, and how to build a network of supportive professional women.

The content, which was prepared and delivered by WiC and Sirius, is designed to help young women tailor their education to enter the world of IT and prepare them to climb the ladder of success. Established and emerging leaders in high-tech will come together to share their wisdom on the potential paths, hurdles and opportunities that await students.

This workshop will feature a promising group of young women from the San Francisco Bay area with the goal of inspiring them to pursue not only technical jobs, but roles in sales, marketing, customer support, IT services and partner management.

“Outreach to girls interested in tech has been a high priority for Women in the Channel,” said WiC President Hilary Gadda, director of channel for TPx Communications. “That’s why we started GITIT last year and why we jumped at the opportunity to partner with The Channel Company and Sirius to bring our curricula and enthusiastic membership to talk to the future generation of women in tech.”

About Women in the Channel (WiC)

Established in 2010, Women in the Channel is a grassroots organization made up of women who are in leadership, ownership and revenue generating roles in the alternate sales channel sector of the telecommunications industry. Month after month, these women are responsible for generating sales for their companies and creating wealth for their families.  WiC members are wives and mothers and sisters, and a high percentage of us are the main breadwinners in our families. WiC brings together this group because in an industry that is growing, expanding and changing the number of women at such levels is not matching that growth.   To learn more and to become a member, please visit www.womeninthechannel.org
