Where Do We Go From Here? Black History Month as a Call to Action

Feb 21, 2025

Black History Month isn’t just about looking back—it’s about asking how we move forward. As efforts to erase DEI gain traction across the country, we’re reminded that the work of equity and inclusion is far from over. The question isn’t whether DEI is dead, but rather, how do we keep it alive in meaningful ways?

Progress has always been met with resistance. But Black history teaches us that every setback has been met with resilience, every barrier with action, and every injustice with the unwavering pursuit of change. From the Reconstruction era to the Civil Rights Movement to today’s ongoing fight for justice, history shows us that progress isn’t linear—it’s a constant push forward, fueled by those who refuse to be silent.

This month, let’s recommit to truth, education and advocacy. Let’s support Black voices, uplift Black stories and ensure that diversity, equity and inclusion aren’t just corporate buzzwords but lived realities in our communities. That means having the hard conversations, holding institutions accountable and investing in organizations doing the work year-round.

The road ahead isn’t easy, but history reminds us that we’ve never stopped moving forward and won’t start now.
