The Remarkable Resilience of Muslim Women in the Workforce

As we celebrate International Women’s Day, I have the profound honor of sharing the remarkable resilience of Muslim women in the workforce. March also marks the beginning of Ramadan, a sacred month of reflection, fasting and community for Muslims around the world. This period calls for adjustments in daily routines while balancing personal and professional commitments. Through fasting, we express gratitude for our blessings and acknowledge the struggles of those around the world who battle thirst and hunger every day.

I am often asked by my peers how I manage to go an entire day without a sip of water or a single bite of food. It is not without struggle—but nothing worth doing in life ever is. It is purely through deep faith and focus that we are able to walk this dual path. In this state of discipline and reflection, we continue to attend meetings, close sales and foster relationships with clients, all while fulfilling our religious duties and maintaining family obligations. This dedication highlights not only our resilience but also the determination of women in the workplace.

The true strength of women lies in our ability to navigate challenges and face every obstacle with grace. By successfully balancing our personal and professional responsibilities, we break down barriers, challenge stereotypes and serve as role models for others—demonstrating that it is possible to thrive both in one’s career and spiritual life.
