How Charla Bunton-Johnson is Living the ACW Pledge: Women Supporting Women

Feb 25, 2021

Alliance of Channel Women is highlighting women who are Living the ACW Pledge: Women Supporting Women. We’re seeking nominations from the channel community for women – from the mailroom to the boardroom – who embody the oath in their words and actions.

Charla Bunton-Johnson, Global Director of Partner Marketing and Sales at WekaIO, was nominated by Darrin Johnson, Global Director of Solutions Architecture and Technical Marketing at NVIDIA.

In what way(s) is your nominee an example of Living the ACW Pledge of women supporting women?

Charla, throughout her career, has understood the importance of being a leader that rises up on the shoulders of others rather than stepping on others to get ahead. She emphasizes the importance of creating a supportive environment for women by being an advocate, creating opportunities, and ensuring their achievements are recognized. She is driven to do this in both professional and personal situations. She participates as a leader in several ways, including at her church, as a PEO member focused on women’s education, in the Super Women in Storage nomination committee, and in the Women of the Channel.

What is a specific example of what she did for you and when it happened?

Charla has mentored several women throughout her career, focusing on the importance of education and exploring opportunities to grow in their profession and as leaders. This has led to several people getting opportunities otherwise not available to them, leading them to new roles, new jobs, and personal enrichment. She has invited others to join in leadership opportunities and many have been successfully nominated for awards like Unsung Hero, Women of the Channel, Super Women of Storage, etc. She also goes to great lengths to help women by connecting them with job opportunities when they’re in need.

What impact did her action have on you and/or your career?

She has opened my eyes to the importance of supporting and creating opportunities for women. This has led me to increase the number of women I have hired, mentored, or simply reached out to offer a hand. Through her example, I have become a better role model and leader. My hats off to her.
